Remembering Albert

It is with deep love and heavy hearts that the family of Albert Douglas Machuk announces his peaceful passing on Monday, September 1st, 2025, at University Hospital in London, Ontario, at the age of 89.

Born on October 17, 1935, in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, Albert led a life rich in creativity, conviction and compassion. He was a devoted husband to Harriet and a loving father to Greg, Kathy, Dan, Erin (Jamie), Jon and Paul (Christine). Albert was also a proud grandfather to Kate and Lexi (Erin) and Loch and Avery (Paul), whose lives were brightened by his wisdom and humor.

Albert built a respected career as a packaging designer and graphic artist in the advertising department at 3M Canada, retiring in 1992. His creativity, keen eye for design and strong work ethic left a lasting impression on colleagues and clients alike.

With a passion for speed, Albert was a WOSSA sprint champion and a flat track motorcycle racer. He was also an avid cycler and an amateur bike and car mechanic. Albert found joy in keeping fit, and planted a love of health and sport in his children through his encouragement and coaching of their amateur sports.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Albert’s life at St. Andrew’s Catholic Parish Church, London, Ontario on Friday September 12. A visitation will be held from 11am to 1pm and a funeral service will be held at 1pm, which will be followed by a reception at 2pm. Albert will be laid to rest at St. Peter’s Cemetery, London, Ontario.

Albert’s legacy lives on in the many lives he touched, the causes he championed and the family he loved so dearly. He will be remembered always for his sharp mind, kind heart and unwavering integrity.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the St. Vincent de Paul Society of St. Andrew the Apostle parish would be appreciated. Donations can be provided in person at the service, via cash or cheque. Alternatively, donations can be e-transferred to Standrew@dol.ca, with a note indicating St Vincent de Paul Donation.
