Aldo Santin
Obituary Overview
Aldo Santin
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Aldo Santin, our beloved husband, father, Nonno, and Bisnonno, who left us at the age of 99. He passed away peacefully, wrapped in the love of the family he cherished so deeply.
Loving spouse of 67 years to Lina. Proud father to Mauro (Michelle) and Mara. He held a special place in his heart for his nephew, Dario (Carol), whom he loved as his own son. Cherished Nonno to Matthew (Sarah), Karly, Daniel (Jacqueline), Jennifer (Mitch) and Julia (Brett). His greatest loves were his two great grandchildren, Camille and Luke. Predeceased by his mother Antonia, father Angelo, and sister Alda (Giovanni). He will be deeply missed by his many nieces and nephews in Italy and Windsor.
Aldo immigrated to Canada 69 years ago, and began his career in Canada at Keystone Construction working on the 401. The better part of his career was spent as a diesel mechanic at the Windsor Salt Mine. His greatest joy was found in the company of his family and in the quiet, patient work of his garden. He spent a lifetime tending to his roses, nurturing them with the same care he gave to those he loved. He took great pride in his garden, especially his tomato plants. Aldo also had a legendary sweet tooth - he was a lifelong devotee of all things lemon. A cornerstone of his week was Hockey Night in Canada, followed by Sunday family dinners dedicated to talking about his Canadian hockey teams, and all the highlights from the games.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Windsor and Essex County, Dr. Bergeron, Care Partners, ParaMed nurses and PSW’s for their love and compassionate care. Cremation has occurred, and a private family service has taken place.
A memorial mass in honor of Aldo will be on Monday, March 16th, 2026, at Most Precious Blood Church (1947 Meldrum Road, Windsor) at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Aldo’s name to Hospice of Windsor and Essex County or Italian Canadian HandiCapable Association (ICHA).
