Angelika Maria Fernandes
Obituary Overview
In Loving Memory
It is with immense sorrow and grief that we announce the death of Angelika at the age of 46. She was born in Gdynia Poland to Irena Lesiak Pilawska and Jerzy Jankowski, and is sister of Irek Rydzewski.
At the age of 18, Angelika escaped from Poland to Canada to start a new life. She continued her education in Canada and worked across several industries including entertainment, security, finance, health and food. She was a dedicated, conscientious and hardworking employee whose work always made a positive impact to both her employers and co-workers.
Angelika also made a lasting impact on some incredible friends, whom she made along her journey, who cared for her deeply and provided her with love and support.
In 2010, Angelika found true love and later married Mike Fernandes in 2013, inheriting an immediate large and loving family she always longed for. In 2016, Angelika became a mother to Tristan Fernandes, who she adored with all her heart, whom I think she would say was her greatest success.
Angelika at her core was a gentle, kind and generous soul, beautiful inside and out. She loved the outdoors, particularly around water or on a wooden trail. She adored animals, domestic or wild, with an unwavering love and respect for them all; and may have felt closer to her pets than any human she ever met.
Despite all the love and support around her, Angelika was burdened by past and early traumas, and eventually succumbed to her own mental health and addictions.
She will be ever loved and remembered by her husband, son and extended family and friends.
A service is scheduled for 11:30am on Saturday May 30th at St. Josephine Bakhita Parish, located at 3200 Thomas St. in Mississauga. A celebration of Life will occur immediately after the service within the parish hall.
In lieu of flowers or anything else, donations in her memory may be made to the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health and/or Lighthouse For Grieving Children and Families.
