Rita Amirault of Brantford, Ontario, passed away peacefully in Peterborough with family at her side on April 5, 2026, in her 99th year.
Born in Pubnico, Nova Scotia, Rita was one of twelve children and devoted her life to her family and community. She is lovingly remembered by her children Raymond (Carol), Norman (Jennifer), and Charles; grandchildren Corrie, David, Heather, Stephen, and Robert; ten great‑grandchildren; and her sisters Alvina, Delphine, Margaret, and Doris. She was predeceased by her husband, Wilfred, in 2007.
Rita grew up during the Depression and wartime years, later earning a home‑management
degree in Montreal before moving to Ontario to begin her life with Wilfred. Together they raised their family while moving for his work with Ontario Hydro, always creating a warm and steady home wherever they landed. Rita was a dedicated mother who taught her children the value of hard work, saving, and living simply.
She was active in the Catholic Women’s League, the Brant Community Living Association, and was an enthusiastic lawn bowler—well‑known for her competitive spirit on the greens.
Rita will be remembered for her kindness, resilience, and unwavering love for her family.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, May 3, 2026, at Toll Funeral Home, Brantford.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
