Bethany Lara Denson
Obituary Overview
Forever in our hearts
With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Bethany Lara Denson on March 31st, 2026, at the age of 38. Beth’s life ended in the Northumberland Hospital in Cobourg after a brief battle with overwhelming infection.
Bethany lived in Hamilton with her parents, Joan Nagy and stepfather Frank Denton, and the family dogs. The dogs followed her everywhere, especially her beloved Colton. She is deeply missed by her parents; by her siblings, Michael Denson (with Bethany and toddler Jillian) and Remi Denton (with Emma, Miles, Riley and Baby Willow); by her Uncle Terry Nagy and Aunt Patt and their family; by her cousins, niece and nephew on Joan’s side of the family; by her grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins on Frank’s side; by her Denson family of cousins, aunts and uncles in Australia, and by her biological father John Denson.
Bethany had a magical way with children, who found her entrancing and loved her creative ideas for having fun and learning about the world. She had a special relationship with Jillian and was starting to get to know Willow. Her cousin Kerri Nagy’s children, Kaleb, Abigail and Amelia, enjoyed Beth’s rapt attention during playful times.
Beth had happy travel memories, including several trips to visit her family in Australia, and two epic RV journeys across Canada from one ocean to the other with her Uncle Carl and grandmother Lue Teskey. She loved to spend time at Pigeon Lake in Bobcaygeon.
Beth noticed and appreciated small things in the world had a sense of wonder and love of nature. She was an expert at managing and selling her cards and other collectibles.
Beth’s beautiful smile, kindness and caring and gentle manner brought warmth to others. Sadly, many she loved rarely saw her as she was a private person who struggled quietly with health issues over the years. She benefited from the care of a number of health practitioners, including Alison who helped her healing journey through Reiki therapy.
Joan and Frank are grateful to Carl Teskey, Bethany’s friend and uncle, who supported her in her last days and helped her in many ways over the years.
A celebration will be arranged for later this year. For donations to honour our beloved Beth, the family suggests a charity of your choice to support mental health or animal welfare.
