Betty Idena Simpson
Obituary Overview
SIMPSON, Betty Idena (nee Morgan)
May 2, 1939 – August 15, 2025
With full and fond memories, we announce the passing of Betty Idena Simpson, who left us peacefully on August 15, 2025 at the age of 86 years.
She was a genuinely kind and sweet soul, who was reunited with her husband of 65 years, Edward Simpson (April 2025) and with her beloved son David Simpson (Feb 2025), survived by Maggie her daughter-in-law. The kindest Mother and best friend of Kathy (Michael) Warner, her beloved daughter. She will be missed by her favorite grandson Jake and her step granddaughter Kaitlin. Dear sister of the late Michael Morgan and much-loved sister-in-law (more like a true friend) of Sandy to whom she equates Betty with “Making people feel like the Twinkling Sparkles on the Ocean”.
Betty was the sister-in-law of many wonderful Simpsons. She will be missed by the late William (late Joella), the late Marilyn and Glen, Jack (Ann), the late Charles (Karen), Ruth Ann (late Tom), the late Ted, the late Michael, Joseph (Kathy), Ken (Karen), Mark (Mary) and Judy (Gerry).
There will always be a special place in all of our hearts, for her cousin Glen Bryan, who constantly was a rock to us all. He went above and beyond without a question, any and every time it was needed – purely out of love.
Betty had a genuine love and fondness for Manitoulin Island, where so many of her past family would gather and have created so many memories over the years. This was HOME to Betty. She would be found there with a smile, a book and glass of wine or just some silence to take it all in. Ed’s “Big Deck” was where anyone and everyone could gather without invitation to share stories, and laugh. Many wonderful afternoons were spent with friends and family reliving memories on that deck. Betty would cook wonderful meals and everyone was invited. She made great salads and desserts. Here’s to you Betty, to all of the good times. Her legacy lives on in all the people she has touched… and that is a lot.
Celebration of life will be held at a later date.
