In Loving Memory
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Brigitte de La Bastide, devoted wife of the late Hubert de La Bastide, cherished daughter of the late Clarisse, and Herby Pelletier, on May 9, 2026 at the age of 78.
She will be remembered for embracing her family and friends with her warmth and generosity. She was a loving wife whose kindness and steadfast support enriched the whole family.
She will live on in the hearts of her family, Peter (Rose), Linda (Brian), Andy (Sarah), her grandchildren Kevin, Kathleen, Christopher, Daniel, Colin, Lauren and Scott, her great grandchildren, Avery, Sophie, Emmett and Dylan.
Since the early 2000’s, Brigitte enthusiastically engaged in parish life at Divine Infant Church. She was a loyal member of the Catholic Women’s League (CWL) and an active parishioner. Among a variety of good works, Brigitte visited Catholic schools, prepared food hampers for less fortunate families, helped organize Thanksgiving dinners and other events and participated in fundraising activities for local charities.
With a sparkling wit and sense of humour, Brigitte was an active, popular and lively member of an informal dinner group of wives of the Knights of Columbus. Self-styled the “Ladies of the Knights”, Brigitte and her colleagues enjoyed monthly luncheon gatherings as they patronized local restaurants. Brigitte was also politically active in the community; she worked long hours as a virtual executive assistant to the Honourable Royal Galipeau MP for much of his tenure in Orleans (2006-2015). Brigitte was much loved by her friends, colleagues and members of the parish for her grace, honesty, integrity and generosity.
There will be a Joint Catholic Memorial Mass to honour both Brigitte and her devoted husband, Hubert de La Bastide, at Divine Infant Parish on August 20, 2026 at 11:00 am located at 6658 Bilberry Crescent, Orleans, ON. Those wishing to honour their memories through a memorial donation may do so to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
