Obituary Overview

Catherine Heinrichs

Catherine passed peacefully on Monday, April 20th 2026 at Erie Shore Health Care. Beloved wife and best friend of Jacob Heinrichs (2007).  Incredible mother to Chris Heinrichs, Sandy Heinrichs, Catherine Heinrichs, Ed and Julie Heinrichs and Gloria and Jim Williams.

Catherine loved being Oma to her six grandchildren Laurin, Adam, Megan, Sarah, Melissa and Eric. Cherished Oma to four great grandchildren Liam, June, Evan and Ethan.

Dear sister of Anne Fischer. Predeceased by parents Peter and Catherine Goertzen, sisters Frida Pauls, Irene Woelk and Helen Cornies.

Catherine loved her family and enjoyed many special gatherings at their home in Wheatley. She loved spoiling her family with endless baking and delicious meals.

Catherine had many great memories of her childhood that she loved sharing with her family. From her place of birth in Russia (March 17,1928) and on to Germany, to Brazil and finally to the Leamington area. She had many stories of her life in Brazil where she attended school and worked delivering milk with her father. She worked very hard through her life while taking care of her family. She enjoyed simple pleasures such as reading, crocheting blankets and many slippers. She cherished the moments walking in Point Pelee  Park with Jake. The Heinrichs family enjoyed  many summer vacations at Anne and Harry Fischer's cottage on Ahmic Lake .

Catherine and her family greatly appreciated all the help she received from the wonderful Bayshore Home Care staff who were with her every day at her apartment in the Mennonite Home.

Special thanks to Dr. Tingey of London who helped keep her sight as long as possible. Also Dr. Teefy of London who looked after her heart from the time of her first heart attack at the age of 59.

She also received great care at Erie Shores Health Care, 2nd floor in the last months of her life. The nurses treated her with dignity and gentleness. Thanks as well to Kim Williams and staff of Thomson Guardian, Leamington who helped with her medication over the years.

She appreciated the many visits from Minister Ruth Boehm of the Faith Mennonite Church. These visits gave Catherine much comfort over the years, especially the last several months.

Cremation has taken place and there will be no service as per Catherine's wishes. Immediate family will gather privately at a later date.

In lieu of flowers you may make a donation to a charity of your choice.
