Obituary Overview
In Loving Memory
Christine passed away in the early hours of Feb 17th, 2026. With the excellent care of her palliative care physician, Dr Paul Hacker and an extensive nursing team she comfortably passed away at home surrounded by her loving family.
Christine was born in Blackburn England and emigrated to Canada with her family in 1958. The family settled in Woodstock Ontario where she attended St Mary’s Separate School and Woodstock Collegiate Institute Secondary School. After high school Christine received an undergraduate degree in Mathematics from the University of Waterloo. She then began a career in the Canadian Armed Forces where she obtained a Masters degree in Systems Engineering.
Christine eventually retired from the military having attained the rank of Lt Colonel. Christine cared deeply about the environment and loved everything to do with nature.
She was predeceased by her parents Wladyslaw and Joan Stanczyk and her sister-in-law Susan Stanczyk (nee Aicken). She is survived by her siblings Barbara O’Grady (Grattan), Peter Stanczyk (Barb Curwen), John Stanczyk (Kim Petrachek) and her nieces Allison Wiggins (Chris) Erin O’Grady (Victor) Kelsey Lilja (nee Stanczyk), Matt) and her nephews Ryan O’Grady and Casey O’Grady (Hanna), as well as numerous grand nieces and nephews, as well as the extended Aicken Family.
She was devoted to her family and she will be greatly missed by them, as well as by her extensive group of friends.
Christine will be interred in St Mary’s Cemetery in Woodstock Ontario after a funeral mass and a Celebration of Life at a time to be determined in the spring. Memorial donations to the Nature Conservancy of Canada would be greatly appreciated by the family.
