Obituary Overview
In Loving Memory
We are saddened to announce the passing of Dennis Blake Dunn on December 31, 2025 at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on May 13, 1943. Predeceased by his parents Ralph Edward Dunn and Sarah Elizabeth Dunn (nee Gallant). They relocated to Woodstock, ON in the summer of 1943 and then to Oakville, ON in the summer of 1957. He later met his wife Joy Eileen McDonald of Bronte, ON and they celebrated their 6oth Wedding Anniversary in Nov 2025. He is survived by daughters Deborah Dunn-Pitblado (Drew Todd) and Kelly Dunn (Pys); grandchildren Katelynn Pys, Aaron Pys (Samanta Tavares), Mitchell Pys (Sydnie Cunningham-Pys), Brodey Pitblado (Jade Cherri), Riley Pitblado, and Blake Todd; and Great Grand Children, Kaleb Tavares, Koleson & Jaxon Hussey, Bowen Pys, Finley Pys.
Dennis attended T.A. Blakelock High School in Oakville and started his career with Procor Limited. He then relocated to ERCO Industries (also known as Albright & Wilson and/or Sterling Pulp Chemicals Ltd.), where he became the Purchasing Manager of Capital Equipment for the sale of technology, including for ERCO's own plants all over the world. Dennis was also involved in the startup of a new plant in Monroe, Louisiana, where he and his family relocated for two years.
Over Dennis's lifetime, he was a member of the drum corps bands "Trafalgar Patrolman" and played the French horn in the "Commanders". He enjoyed skiing trips, hiking, curling, playing baseball, and loved his golf. He also loved music, crossword puzzles, and Suduko. Dennis was a master at barbequing and perfected the prime rib roast. Many loved pets were welcomed into the family home over the years. Dennis had a special place in his heart for each and every one of them. He frequently treated himself to pineapple milkshakes from Dairy Queen.
Dennis's grandchildren have precious memories of visits to Uncle Mac's cottage on Doc Island, Chandos Lake.
Over many years, Dennis endured numerous health battles. Sadly, these issues took a toll on his quality of life. Dennis will be very missed by his family and friends, who can take comfort knowing that he is out of pain.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Dennis' honour at a future date (with event details updated on this page), where friends and family will share happy memories. If desired, donations in Dennis's memory can be made to the Oakville Humane Society, or a charity of your choice.
