In Loving Memory

It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Dennis O'Connell on Friday, July 24, 2026, at 11:37 p.m., at Bruyère Health Saint-Vincent Hospital in Ottawa, following a brief battle with cancer.

Dennis was predeceased by his beloved wife, Sharon O'Connell, as well as his parents, Loretta and Francis O'Connell.

He is survived by his loving family, including his sister, Eleanor McCuaig (Leonard) of Ottawa, and his brothers, Danny O'Connell (Betty) of Burlington, Ontario, Stephen O'Connell of New Brunswick, and David O'Connell of New Brunswick.

Dennis was a proud and devoted father to his sons, Sean O'Connell (Julie) and Tim O'Connell. He is also lovingly remembered by his stepdaughters, Shelly Johnston (Dave) and Kim Morgan (Rodney).

He was a cherished grandfather to Kieran, Bryden, Khaelyn, Brooke, Stephanie Fleming (Colin), Dylan Johnston (Sarah), Zachary Morgan (Stacey), and Emily Morgan (Dan). He was also a proud great-grandfather to Somersby, Miller, Patrick, and Zoey, all of whom brought him immense pride and joy.

He will also be deeply missed by his many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Although Dennis made his home in Ontario, his heart was always in New Brunswick, where he spent every summer surrounded by lifelong friends and the places he loved most. The province was never far from his thoughts and remained the place he always considered home.

While he will be greatly missed, there is comfort in knowing he is now reunited with his beloved Sharon and his parents.

Dennis's cremated remains will be laid to rest alongside his beloved wife, Sharon, at Mount Lawn Funeral Home & Cemetery in Whitby, Ontario, where they will remain together.

Forever loved, forever remembered.

At Dennis's request, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
