In Loving Memory

With family by his side, Don bravely fought until his last breath, just as he had for the last 28 years of ill health. He died on Friday, July 3, 2026, at the age of 72. He was a devoted and loving husband of Kathryn (nee Sargent) for 34 years. He was an excellent father to Dorothy, William and Helen (Mitchell) and doted on his children. He was a cherished grandfather to his granddaughter Willow. Don was a beloved brother to his sister Anne (Geoff) and his brothers in law Mike and David. He was a loving uncle to his nieces Jennifer and Darrah.

Don was the adored son of the late Dorothy and Jack Sheldrick. Donald’s memory will always be cherished by his wife, children, grandchildren, extended family and friends. He was well known around Stittsville for being friendly and always having something witty to say.

Don was incredibly kind and loving person, who did everything he could for his family. He loved being on the lake in Muskoka. Don loved to tell stories about his childhood on playing with his sister and cousins on Skeleton Lake and growing up in Bells Corners. Don absolutely loved watching sports, especially the Ottawa Senators.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff the Heart Institute, the Civic hospital and Queensway Carleton Hospital.

At Don’s request, no formal service will be held. A celebration of his life will be held at the Stittsville Legion on 26 September 2026 between 1pm and 4pm.
