In Loving Memory

It is with profound sadness, but deep gratitude for a life so beautifully lived, that we announce the peaceful passing of Doris Louise Hart (née Morton) on July 13, 2026, at the age of 94.
Born on May 9, 1932, Doris lived a long, meaningful life rooted in faith, love, family, and service to others. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, John, in January of this year. Married for 72 wonderful years, theirs was a remarkable love story. Having spent so many years together it seems fitting that Doris followed the love of her life just six months later.

Doris was the cherished daughter of the late Harry and Sadie Morton and was predeceased by her brothers, Doug and Lloyd Morton.

She was a devoted and loving mother to her five children: Ray (Nancy), Susan (Brad), Lynn (Jim), Karen, and Cheryl (Rim). Nothing brought Doris greater happiness than her family. She was a proud grandmother to fifteen grandchildren and a delighted great-grandmother to thirteen great-grandchildren, with three more eagerly awaited. Each new generation was a source of immense pride and joy, and her love for them was unwavering.
After graduating from the University of Toronto, where she was honoured with the Governor General's Award, Doris married John, and together they began an extraordinary adventure serving with the United Church in Angola. They spent five years there, raising their first three children overseas before returning to Canada to complete their family.

Doris began her career as a Home Economics teacher before finding her place in accounting, where she worked for Ralston Purina for 25 years until her retirement in 1994. Yet, no matter where life took her professionally, her greatest calling was always her family. She was a constant presence in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren—cheering from the stands at hockey games, applauding at dance and music recitals, and faithfully attending countless swimming meets. She found joy simply in being there.

A woman of quiet kindness and gentle strength, Doris was deeply involved in her church community, singing in the choir and enjoying many years of friendship through bridge and euchre groups. She and John also shared a love of travel, creating wonderful memories together around the world. Still, her happiest moments were the simplest ones—spent at the Hart family cottage, surrounded by the laughter of those she loved most.
Doris will be remembered for her warmth, humility, unwavering devotion to her family, and the quiet grace with which she lived her life. Though she will be deeply missed, her love, wisdom, and gentle spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at the Burlington Curling Club, 2295 New Street, Burlington. Doors will open at 1:00 p.m., with the celebration beginning promptly at 2:00 p.m.

Refreshments and fellowship will follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada in Doris's memory.
