Obituary Overview

Edward Joseph Jacobs

It’s with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend Edward Joseph Jacobs passed away peacefully on August 26 at Hospice, surrounded by the love of his family.
Edward will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Barbara, with whom he shared 72 wonderful years of marriage.
Dad will be forever loved and missed by his children: Linda (David) Banks, Tony (Darlene), David (Andrea), Robert (Liz), Laura (Walt) Cherneski, and Kenny.

He was predeceased by his parents, late Joseph and late Alice Jacobs, and his siblings late Fred (late Mary), late Donald (Lea), and late John (Donna) Mike (Sharlene), as well as his extended family and many friends.
He leaves behind a beautiful legacy of 17 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren, who were the pride and joy of his life.

A true pioneer and successful businessman, he and his brothers owned and operated Sun Parlour Ambulance Service from 1965 until his retirement in 2008. Through his many years of service, hard work, and dedication, he became not only a respected businessman but also a pillar of the community.

He was truly a jack of all trades, always willing to lend a hand and never afraid of hard work. Many in the community will remember him from Jacobs Fruit Stand, Jacobs Flower Shop, and the family Christmas tree business, where he spent countless hours working and creating memories with those around him.

Beyond his businesses and accomplishments, he was a man who treasured his family. Some of his happiest memories were made fishing with his grandchildren and enjoying the family’s traditional Friday fish fry’s. He loved having his family together and was always the happiest when he was surrounded by the people he loved.

To the community, he was a successful businessman, a pioneer, and a pillar of strength. To his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, he was a cherished grandfather. But to us, he was simply Dad — the man who would do anything for his family, who was always there when we needed him, and whose love and guidance will stay with us forever.

His legacy is not measured only by the businesses he built or the years he served his community, but by the family he loved, the lives he touched, and the countless memories he leaves behind.

He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

Rest peacefully, Dad. We love you, and we will carry your memory in our hearts forever.

Private family service. Celebration of life will be arranged at a future date.
