Elaine Virginia Friars (nee Collard)

We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our dear mother Elaine Friars, on August 13, 2026, at the age of 86 surrounded by family after a brief battle with Cancer.

Loving wife of the late Ronald (1993), beloved and devoted mother to Randy (Joan), Tammy (Dan), Rod (Harry), Greg, and Dave (Kim). Cherished grandmother to Jacquelyn (Justin), Cassandra (Joe), Jason, Nick (Lynne), Jordan (Julie), Danielle, Sébastien, Christian, and Ryder. Special great-grandmother to Noah, Ava, and Jordyn.

Elaine was predeceased by her parents Virgil and Gertrude Collard, brother Richard Collard and sisters Shirley Straud, Marilyn Cleek, Jane Collard, and Joyce Devos. She will be remembered with love by her brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews, extended family, and close friends. Elaine was an ally, confidante and shoulder to cry on, and will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

We would like to extend our heart-felt thanks to everyone at the Hospice of Windsor and Essex County – Erie Shores Campus for the exceptional care Elaine received in her final weeks. We will be forever grateful for the compassion and comfort provided to our mother and our family.

In keeping with Elaine’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service. Cremation has already taken place. 

A private family interment will be held at a later date.

Elaine loved a roaring campfire, a dirty Martini and Sunday football. She found happiness in the simple things that life had to offer, and cherished her time spent with those she loved. Remember her fondly and raise a glass to a life well lived.
