Erika (Groß) Thompson

It is with heavy hearts and great love that we announce the passing of Erika (Groß) Thompson on June 8th, 2026 at the age of 87 in Windsor, Ontario.

Erika was born on July 7th, 1938 in Dortmund, Germany to the late Erich and Hedwig Groß and raised in the town of Schwerte before moving to Canada in 1960 with her husband, the late Morley Thompson.

Erika will be lovingly remembered by her son, Glenn (Debra) and her four grandchildren, Cody (Jessica), Justin, Taylor (Korey) and Caulin (Hailey) and missed deeply by all who knew her.

Erika worked many years at Once Again, The Elegant Resale Shoppe and enjoyed her time there working with all the kind ladies she would go on to call her friends.

Erika was a woman of immeasurable strength, warmth, and wisdom while all being bundled together very elegantly with infinite style and grace. She enjoyed fashion, and both classical art and music; but, Erika’s greatest love in life was the love she held for her son, grandchildren and family. Nothing made her more proud than being the best Mother and Oma anyone could ever ask for.

Following Erika’s request, a small family memorial will take place at a later date. If so desired, donations can be made in her memory to the Hotel Dieu Grace Healthcare - Palliative unit.
