Obituary Overview

In Loving Memory

Eugene Lewis McDougall, age 77, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2026, in Brantford, Ontario. He was born on May 6, 1948, in Blacks Harbour, New Brunswick.
At the age of 21, Eugene married Sharon (Tidd Guitard) in Bronte, Ontario. Together, they raised three children: Paul (Janice), Todd (Starla), and Deanna (Scott). Eugene’s work and ambitions took his family across Canada, living in Ontario, New Brunswick, and Alberta.
Gene was driven by new ideas and had a rare ability to connect with people, never leaving a stranger a stranger for long. While many people dream of what could be, Gene had the drive to make it reality. He was deeply committed to improving whatever he put his hands to—whether in the food industry with Geno’s Pizza, manufacturing at Kent Homes, automotive work, hospital beds, medical equipment, or water purification. A visionary entrepreneur, Eugene built his career through innovation in the automotive and technology industries.
He was well known for his “out-of-the-box” thinking, unwavering determination, and deep devotion to God.
Eugene is lovingly remembered by his devoted partner, Thao, and his cherished grandchildren: Bryce, John, Selena, Zachary, and Logan.
He was predeceased by his father, George (Joe) McDougall; his mother, Minnie (Weatherby); his sister, Laura (Serrick); and his brother, John MacDougall. Eugene’s legacy lives on through the groundbreaking work he accomplished, his joy for life, and the many stories and adventures shared with those who knew him.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Eugene’s dear friends—Pastor Ralph Rutliage, Pastor Peter Marshall, Gino Collalto, and Michael Reighleigh—for their kindness and support, as well as to the doctors, nurses, and personal support workers in the palliative care unit at Brantford General Hospital.
A memorial service will be held on January 31, 2026 at 11:00a.m. The Great Life church. 45 Randall Avenue, Hamilton, Ontario. In lieu of flowers, donations in Eugene’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
