Obituary Overview

Gary George Demmans

It's with heavy hearts the family of Gary George Demmans announces his passing on January 9, 2026 at the age of 75.

Gary was the cherished husband to Debra Demmans and beloved father to Shawn Demmans (Vanessa) and Kristy Edgington (Jason).

Proud Papa to Evyn, Alexis, Trevor, Kelly, Kyle, and Kara.

Remembered by his siblings Pat, Jim (Gwen), and Michelle (Rolf). Gary is predeceased by his brother Bob and his parents Laverne and Dorothy Demmans.

Gary will also be dearly missed by his many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Gary was the first to lend a hand, the first to show up, and the first to give, no matter what was needed. He was a devoted supporter of many charities and causes throughout Windsor-Essex, including the House of Sophrosyne, Transition to Betterness, and the 24-Hour Drum Marathon – all of which were especially close to his heart.

Gary spent many years at Canada Post as a supervisor, where he proudly earned the nickname “Clip.”

Music was one of Gary’s greatest joys. From Canadian artists to Van Halen, he was happiest at a live concert, surrounded by his family and soaking in every note. He was also a devoted fan of the Windsor Spitfires and the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Gary was a proud member of Legion Branch 594 and the Ivor Chandler Group, and he was deeply grateful for the lifelong friendships that came with both.

More than anything, Gary was a family man. He adored his children and lived for his grandchildren. He was always there – to help, to listen, to support, and to love.

We are forever grateful for the special friendship of Jeff Burrows and Wayne Fortin, and for the incredible kindness of Simon and Debbie, who were true angels to Gary and our family over the years.

Gary lived brightly, loved deeply, and left this world better than he found it. As per Gary’s wishes, there will be no visitation or services.

Gary lived by the words:

“Enjoy every day – tomorrow is never promised.”

If you so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 594 or the House of Sophrosyne.
