Gerald Peter Majeau

Gerald (Gerry) Peter Majeau, of Sylvan Lake, Alberta, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2026, at the age of 76. 

 
Gerry was born in Edmonton, Alberta, on November 22, 1949. He called Sylvan Lake home for the final six years of his life. 

 
Throughout his life, Gerry was a restaurateur and entrepreneur. An important part of his legacy was Martini’s Bar and Grill, a memorable establishment that was later mentioned in the first chapter of the book King Ralph, titled “One Night of a Thousand Beers.” 

 
Gerry had a passion for aviation, skiing, music, and travel. He especially loved the music of Céline Dion, whose songs brought him great enjoyment over the years. 

 
Gerry also single-handedly created something of a cult following for Lawry’s Garlic Salt. His children continue to import it for family and friends to this day, carrying on a tradition that will always remind them of him. 

 
Gerry was passionate and deeply devoted to his family. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren, who brought him great joy. 

He was also known for his particular way with words. Whenever someone said, “Just a second,” Gerry would quickly remind them, “A second is one second. What you mean is a moment.” It was one of the many familiar sayings that made Gerry uniquely himself and will continue to bring smiles to those who knew him. 

 
Gerry will be lovingly remembered by his children, Branden Majeau (Natasha) and Becky Warner (Rick); his grandchildren, Koen Majeau, Finley Majeau, and Ford Majeau; his siblings, Raymond Majeau (Jeanette), Teddy Majeau, and Norm Liefke (Cindy); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. 

 
He was predeceased by his mother, Gladys Liefke, and his sister, Annette Badry (Ron). 

 
Gerry’s family would like to extend a special and heartfelt thank-you to the staff and volunteers of the Red Deer Hospice Society for the compassion, kindness, dignity, and care they provided to Gerry and his family during his final days. Their support brought comfort during an incredibly difficult time and will always be deeply appreciated. 

 
A gathering to celebrate Gerry’s life will be held at a later date. 

 
In lieu of flowers, donations in Gerry’s memory to the Red Deer Hospice Society would be sincerely appreciated.
