Glenn David Barr
Obituary Overview
In Loving Memory
Our much-loved Glenn passed away gently on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, in his 70th year. We will miss him with all our hearts; Nicki, his partner and always at his side for the last seven years, daughter Madison (Rhys), son Sam (Meagan), sister Gayle, brother-in-law, Peter, grandchildren Aiden, Kyleigh, Weston, and Maddox, niece Kate (Peter), nephew Chris (Kate), and numerous cousins. He was the adored son of the late Shirley and Sidney Barr.
Glenn was loved and respected by countless friends in Ottawa and by his long-standing family of friends in Cobourg. The important relationships he established over his many years as a Master Electrician and owner of Wirework were significant, and he held them close. Glenn exemplified the belief that everyone should be treated with kindness and consideration. We relied on his steady guidance, benefited from his vast knowledge, and appreciated his ability to dive into any topic. We will always keep our Glenn (Dad, Brother, Grandpa, True Love, and Friend) in our hearts. We will cherish our many memories and look for him among the stars. “Look up in the sky and behold the stars, for they are the dreams of the night, the thoughts of the eternal.” W.B. Yeats
The family would like to thank the University Health Network (Toronto), The Ottawa Hospital’s Drs. Jin (Radiation Oncologist) and Bossé (Medical Oncologist), the wonderful and caring 6th floor Oncology nurses, and all the exceptional healthcare staff who played a role in Glenn’s care over the past nine years. We also want to thank the ICU nurses and doctors at The Ottawa Hospital who were part of Glenn’s life for only a short time at the end. His family greatly appreciated their kindness, professionalism, and compassionate care.
A celebration of Glenn's life and all he meant to us will be held on May 16, 2026, with details to follow.
Instead of flowers, memorial donations to the Canadian Cholangiocarcinoma Collective would be greatly appreciated.
