Obituary Overview
Heather Houston
Heather Houston, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, teacher and friend, passed away peacefully on her 85th birthday surrounded by family. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, creativity, and quiet strength that touched everyone who knew her.
Heather was the cherished mother of Laura Newman (Tim), Maureen Baughman (Greg), late Brian, and Donna Desantis (Remo), and was predeceased by her beloved husband Douglas (2006), of 45 years. Her children were her greatest pride, and she supported each of them with unwavering love.
She was the adored grandmother of Nicholas (Elena), Katie, Marco, Carlo, and Renato, and great granddaughter Mona, who brought her tremendous joy. She also held a special place in her heart for her siblings Wendy Joscelyn and late Bruce Joscelyn (Barbie).
Known for her generous spirit, Heather spent many years teaching knitting at the hospice, offering comfort, companionship, and handmade blankets to those in need. She dedicated herself to community projects and was never happier than when she could use her talents to help others.
A gifted baker, Heather’s cookies and desserts were a highlight at every family gathering. She was also an avid gardener, tending her flowers with the same care and love she shared with the people around her. In her quiet moments, she enjoyed reading and took great delight in watching “Murder, She Wrote” every night with her daughter Donna.
Heather’s warm heart, thoughtful nature, and gentle humour will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Though she has left this world, the love she gave continues to blossom in the lives of her family and friends.
