Helen Elizabeth Magee Hanes
1938 – 2026
Known affectionately as "Marmie" to those who loved her most, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2026, at the age of 87. She was surrounded by the warmth and presence of her family, transitioning from their arms into the company of her beloved parents, Helen (Betty) and Thomas Magee.
A woman of immense heart and quiet talents. Helen found beauty in the world through her paintings, birdhouses and the vibrant colors of her garden. She was a master of the Scrabble board—sharing countless games and laughs with her late best friend, Helen Jenner—and a formidable cribbage player. Her kitchen was often filled with the aroma of fresh baking, a gift of love she shared generously with everyone who entered her home.
Above all, Helen was defined by her selflessness. Her greatest joy was found in the laughter of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, with whom she spent endless hours playing, teaching and making memories.
Her legacy of love lives on through her three daughters, Kathy (Jim), Nancy (Bill), and Patty. She will be forever missed by her grandchildren: Meghan (Logan), David (Mackenzie), Mackenzie (Connor), Sadie (Kelley), Ethan (Audrey), Molly (Codie), Reilly (Sophia), and Keegan (Nadia); and her cherished great-grandchildren: Ryker, Everleigh, Maizie, August, and Dutton.

Helen was a gentle and fierce soul who was truly adored by everyone that was lucky enough to know her.
