Irma Kaino Laitinen
Irma Laitinen of Red Deer County, went to her eternal home on January 6, 2026.
She is survived by her loving husband of 71 years, Pentti, one daughter, one son, seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Your presence is missed and your memory forever treasured.
A private family service will be held in Irma's memory at a later date.

My family and I remember Irma with loving and warm thoughts. She was the most hospitable and kind person and our visits to the Laitinen home were such a treat. There was always homemade baking - the rye bread was the best - and my children loved the picnics by the pond. What fun! Irma and Pentti were very industrious and would lend a helping hand to those in need. Pentti helped with the construction of our sauna many years ago. Irma and Pentti were people of faith and loved God. Our last memory of Irma was a time of prayer during our last visit to their home. May God’s peace and comfort be with you, Pentti, and with your family.

Irma-täti was an example of a woman of prayer. She was my example on how to live a life dedicated to God and His grace and mercy. Many are the memories that we spent with Irma-täti and Pentti-setä in their lovely home . In the later years, every time we went there Irma-täti was in prayer. I will miss her kind heart and soul that lived for God above all but was so dedicated to her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Pentti-setä, Leena and family, Jyri and family - we, Leo and I, feel your loss, but at the same time, we feel your relief that she is at peace. I know your heart is aching, as is ours, her friends, but just knowing that she is finally home, resting in the loving arms of her Savior. What a blessing to have her by you all these years! Her faith was an inspiration to all who knew her. She will be missed, but let us celebrate the life of Irma, faithful servant of God and rejoice that she is with Jesus. Amen!

Mrs. Laitinen was a sweet lovely lady who I knew since I was a little girl. She was always so happy and welcoming when we went to visit them. She always made sure that we had good food. The last time I saw her, Mr. and Mrs. Laitinen prayed for us. It was so evident how much they both love Jesus. Mrs. Laitinen will be missed by many I’m sure, but it is lovely to know that she is with Jesus in heaven.

Irma-täti oli hyvin ahkera ihminen. Hän oli monitaitoinen. Hänen kanssaan leivoin karjalanpiirakoita ja hän innosti minut virkkaamaan liinoja. Talvipilkilläkin kävimme siikoja pyytämässä Kanadassa ja ahvenia Suomessa. Irmalla oli aina oma puutarha, joka tuotti ahkerassa hoidossa runsaasti satoa. Joka syksy hän kertoi myös marja- ja siennireissuista. Vielä toissavuonna Irma jaksoi hoitaa kasvimaata, vaikka ikää oli 90 vuotta. Ennen kaikkea Irma oli ahkera esirukoilija. Hän muisti joka päivä suurta sukuaan ja ystäviään ympäri maailmaa. Kun luulet, ettei suru hellittää voi milloinkaan, käy pieni lintu silloin oksallansa laulamaan. Our sincere condolences on the loss of your wife and mother and grandmother. Heikki was talking about memories that he has of Irma. He remembers the delicious rye bread that Irma always had and whenever he went there, it was like being in Finland because there was always delicious food ready, and being able to speak finish with the family. He also remembers that when he was in the hospital, Irma and Pentti brought him rye bread with deer meat salami. He remembers the sauna evenings and then the delicious snacks afterwards. Janice remembers being introduced to the finish culture through Irma. Being able to taste for the first time finish food, which really was delicious. Remembering Irma’s house and the Finnish handwork she had. All the beautiful items. The warmth that Irma gave when you went to visit. We remember Irma‘s hard work and her faith in God.
