It is with great sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Jacob (Jake) Allan Hopf, on November 5, 2025, in his 78th year at his home in London, ON (formerly of Walkerton). Jake has now joined his beloved wife Carol, who predeceased him only one week earlier.
Caring step-father of Sherry Bailey and her husband David, Tina Morden and her husband Tony Herremans, Sandra Gilbert (son-in-law Scott), James Towle and partner Cathy MacNeil and Marie Hackett. Fondly remembered by Richard Towle and wife Charlotte, Joan McLaughlin and husband Brent, Pam Rainford and husband Paul, Rick Eggett and wife Cheryl and Brenda Dol. Father to Joseph from his first marriage to Patricia Hopf (nee Adams).
Jake was blessed with several grandchildren including Tyler and Trevor Bailey, Cassandra and Joseph Herremans, Isabella and Autumn Gilbert, Darreck Hildreth, Dana Sharkey and Janine Harron, Melissa and Kyle McLaughlin, Steven and Ryan Rainford, Andrew, Daniel and Michael Beattie, Beau and Jeff Rivard and Terry Mielke-Ross. Jake was also much loved by his 16 great-grandchildren.
Jake will be missed by his siblings Alfrieda Gutscher, Ron Hopf, Marlene Whitehead and Shirley May.
Predeceased by his parents Jacob and Loretta (nee Kirstine) Hopf, his sisters Dorothy Fortune, Betty Lane, Jean Harron, Pat Schiestel, Caroline in infancy, and his brothers Donald Hopf and George Hopf.
Jake will be missed by many friends and his extended family, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Cremation has taken place and Jake will be resting with Carol at Forest Lawn Funeral Home and Cemetery. A celebration of Jake’s life will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at the Moose Lodge located at 35 Charterhouse Crescent, London from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Come and join us in fond remembrance of Jake and share a happy memory you may have.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Diabetes Canada or any animal shelter of your choice.
