Jean Mabel Potvin
Obituary Overview
In Loving Memory
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jean on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at the age of 82. Daughter of the late Audrey Hanneman and Henry Potvin, and mother of the late beloved Jennifer.
Jean lived a full life and brought much laughter and joy to those around her. After a courageous battle with cancer, she will finally be reunited with her beautiful daughter Jennifer.
She is survived by many extended members of the Bergeron family, her brother Ron Steel, loving niece Cindy Doughty (Grant), her best friend Margaret Duncan, her furry companion Charlie, and far too many extended family, friends and loved ones to name.
The family would like to thank Dr. Wilkinson, and the nurses and staff at The Ottawa General Hospital for making her comfortable in her last week.
Jean had many hobbies that she loved including sewing, quilting, knitting, reading, antique hunting, spending time with her dogs, and gardening. She was such a skilled quilter that she notably won a 3rd place ribbon at the Vermont Quilt Show in 2019. She made friends wherever she went and had a positive outlook until the very end.
At Jean’s request, there will be no formal service or celebration of life.
Memorial donations to Minpinerie dog rescue, https://minpinerie.ca/category/available-dog/, are appreciated; this charity held a special place in Jean’s heart.
