Obituary Overview

Joan Sippel

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Joan Elizabeth Sippel announces her passing on July 1, 2026.

Joan was a loving mother to Jan (Michael), Gregg, Scott, Rob (Stacy), and Lee (Ted). She was a much-adored grandmother to Kyle, Jordan, Jade, and Jennifer, and a cherished great-grandmother to Dylan and Owen. Although she and her husband Jack divorced many years ago, they remained close friends until the time of his passing in 2017. Joan was predeceased by her brother's Bob, Jack, and Bill.

Joan will be forever remembered for her kind heart, gentle, loving spirit, and the joy she found in life's simple pleasures. She treasured her time with family, especially during Christmas and the holidays, which brought her immense happiness because she was surrounded by the people she loved. She was an avid reader and loved a challenging crossword or puzzle until her declining eyesight made these activities too difficult. Her love for reading continued, however, through phone calls with her daughter, Jan, who read novels aloud to her.

She embraced life's adventures with enthusiasm. She thoroughly enjoyed traveling and always cherished the memory of a beautiful trip to Jamaica with her daughter Lee and to Italy with Jan.  When her children were young, they spent many summers camping together. Joan was in her 80's, and she still camped in a tent at the Pinery with her son, Gregg.  Even though she was well into her 9O's, she delighted in playing with her great-grandson,  Owen, eagerly getting down on the floor to play cars with him, creating memories that will live on forever in the hearts of those who loved her.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Joan's dear friends, Jeannie and Talida, whose unwavering friendship, weekly visits, love, and support meant the world to her. She had many special friendships that began in her childhood, and they  remained close with her throughout their lives. Joan's family all did their part to support her over the years, and Rob was the cornerstone.  His hard work on mom's behalf reflected his unwavering commitment to her comfort and well being.
As per Joan's wishes, cremation will take place.  A private family celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
