It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Andrew Gujban, who passed away on August 21 at the Hospice of Leamington. He was a man who lived life a quarter mile at a time.

John's interest in anything with four wheels, combined with his extensive knowledge of Mopar engines, was more than a hobby. It was a lifelong passion.

From being a member of the Street Machines Inc. Car Club to participating in demolition derbies at Checker Flag and drag racing at Windsor Raceway, Detroit Drag Strip, St. Thomas Dragway, and Norwalk Dragway in Ohio, John was a true gearhead at heart. His love of cars was a special part of who he was. The sound of an engine, the smell of racing fuel, the excitement of the starting line, and, of course, the thrill of the finish were among life's greatest joys to him. Some of his happiest memories were made at the track, surrounded by family, friends, and fellow enthusiasts who shared his passion.

While cars and racing were a huge part of his life, they were never more important than the people he loved. John was known for his generosity with both his time and knowledge, creating lasting memories with those around him. Though he may have been a quiet man to most, he will be remembered for his advice, troubleshooting skills, and countless contributions from both the garage and the pits.

John leaves behind his wife, Valerie; his daughter, Audrey (Stuart); his grandson, Liam (Drew); and many family members and friends who were fortunate enough to know him.

Though the garage has become a little quieter and the track a little less exciting without him, his memory will live on in every rumbling engine, every polished classic muscle car, every burnout, and every trip to the drag strip. Until we meet again at the starting line.

As per John's wishes, cremation has taken place.
