With heavy hearts, but countless wonderful memories, the family of John Oxford announces his peaceful passing on June 27, 2026, in Windsor, Ontario, at the age of 78.
John shared an incredible love story with his beloved wife, Joan (née Meloche). Married for 53 years, the two had just celebrated their anniversary the Tuesday before his passing—a testament to a lifetime built on love, laughter, and unwavering devotion.
Proud and loving father of Brian and Sheri, John treasured his family above all else. He was the son of the late Jack and Stella Oxford and a beloved brother to Kathy, Wilbert Carol, Betty, Bill, Norma, Irma, and Raymond. He will also be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, in-laws, extended family members, and friends, all of whom were blessed to know his warm heart and easy-going nature.
John believed that a strong community was built by people who cared enough to pitch in, and he certainly led by example. As a longtime volunteer with the LaSalle Strawberry Festival, he devoted many years to helping make one of the community's favourite traditions a success. Whether lending a hand, sharing a laugh, or simply being there when needed, John was happiest when he was helping others.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the compassionate staff at Hotel-Dieu Grace Healthcare, especially Dr. Y. Emara and the Palliative Care Unit, whose kindness, support, and exceptional care brought comfort to both John and his loved ones during a difficult time.
Though John's chair may now sit empty, his stories, his smile, and the love he shared will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His family takes comfort in knowing he leaves behind a legacy of generosity, dedication, and deep love for those closest to him.
Cremation has taken place, and a private family service has been held.
Arrangements entrusted to Simple Choice Cremation Centre, Dougall Avenue.
"A life filled with love leaves countless memories behind. Though we miss him dearly, we carry his laughter, his kindness, and his love with us always." 💙
