Kathleen Dorothea Basic
Obituary Overview
Kathleen "Kay" Dorothea (nee Lusk) Basic
Peacefully on Oct. 22 in her 85th year.
Born to parents Greta (nee Ritchie) and Arthur Simms Peden Lusk, Kathleen’s formative years were spent in Inglewood where her legendary green thumb was nurtured. She married and, with her young family, moved to Orono into a custom built home. At mid-life, she trained as a medical secretary and worked at WSIAT until retirement.
Kathleen had a wonderful sense of humour, tenacious energy and adventurous spirit. She was stylish and had a talent for interior design. She was creative and could transform mundane items into works of art. In later years, she loved sharing time with her grandson and especially delighted in sharing tips for baking the perfect pie. Nature was always a restoration and, even in her 8th decade, she enjoyed family walks in the country.
Much loved and greatly missed by daughters Tina and Marni (Brian) Steele, grandson Grayson Steele, nephew and nieces. Predeceased by brothers Thomas, Gordon, Burton; sisters Pearl Anderson, June Zettle; and former husband Marius Basic.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Condolences may be shared with the family at: marnitina6@gmail.com
