Kurt and Eva Moltrassie
Obituary Overview
In Loving Memory of Kurt and Eva Moltrassie
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kurt Andreas Moltrassie (b. March 15, 1929) and Eva Maria Luise Moltrassie (b. June 14, 1931).
Kurt and Eva met at a dance hall in Hamburg, Germany — drawn together by a shared love of dancing. Kurt would take a train into the city on the weekends, and one night, he asked Eva to dance. She said yes and the rest is history.
In 1956, Kurt emigrated to Canada, landing in Quebec City. Eva followed a year later, arriving in Halifax, Nova Scotia, eventually settling in Windsor, Ontario. They were married at St. Michael’s Church on April 27, 1957, beginning a partnership that would last nearly seven decades.
Together, they raised four children — Marion Knapp (Charlie Pratt, †2024), Linda Bedard (Eric), Nancy Durand (Larry), and Robert Moltrassie (JoAnne) — and took immense joy in watching them grow. They were proud grandparents to nine grandchildren — Tina, Sarah, Emily, Jesse, Lisa, Chris, Hannah, Alyssa, and Kiley — and great-grandparents to ten. They are lovingly remembered by many relatives in Germany, and by friends they considered to be family in Canada.
Kurt and Eva were longtime members of the Teutonia Club in Windsor. They loved attending Karnevalsverein celebrations, in traditional dress and being amongst their German friends. They cherished family gatherings, sharing laughter, and telling stories. Eva’s Christmas cookies became a beloved family tradition, one that lives on through those she made them with. Kurt will be remembered for his jokes and spontaneous dances around the living room with whichever family member or friend happened to be standing close by.
Eva passed away peacefully on August 2, 2024, at the age of 93, surrounded by love with Kurt holding her hand. More than a year later, on November 9, 2025, at the age of 96, Kurt followed, ready for eternal rest after a life well lived.
Kurt and Eva were predeceased by their parents, Heinrich and Margarete Moltrassie, and Paul and Luise Karassek.
Cremation has taken place as per their wishes. Their family finds comfort knowing that Kurt and Eva are reunited and dancing together again.
