LORENA GAYE SMITH
July 19, 1963 – December 2, 2025
With deep love, heavy hearts, and endless gratitude for the years we were blessed to share with her, we announce the passing of Lorena Gaye Smith, a woman whose warmth, generosity, and signature baked goods could light up any room long before she walked into it.
Gaye was the deeply devoted and cherished wife of 42 wonderful years to Terry Smith, her partner in every laugh, every challenge, and every adventure life offered them. She was the beloved daughter of the late Lorne and Pearl Judd, and a treasured sister to Chris (Carolyn), Barry, Rick (Judy), Lance (Fran), and Dawn (Al Craig), and predeceased by her brother Ken. She will be missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends that she gathered along the way.
Proud and loving mother of Lorena and Michael (JoJo), she poured her whole heart into raising her children and supporting their dreams. Her greatest joy came from her adored granddaughter, Maddox, (Ladybug) who was the sparkle in her eye and the keeper of so many of her precious memories. Maddox and her family were the center of her universe, and she loved them fiercely.
Gaye had a gift for making people feel cared for—often through her legendary baking. Whether it was a tray of cookies delivered with a smile or a cinnamon roll, shortbread cookies, butter tarts and flapper pie, “just because,” her kitchen was a place where love was kneaded, whisked, and shared. Those who tasted her treats knew that every bite carried her signature kindness.
For many years, Gaye served as the apartment manager at 1330 Lauzon Road, where she became far more than the woman who kept things running smoothly—she became a friend, a confidant, and a comforting presence to countless residents. Her steady hand, gentle humor, and ability to truly listen left a mark that will not soon fade.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Skyline – 1250 Southfield Dr., Tecumseh, ON (Events Room) on
Saturday from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
All who loved her are welcome to come together, share stories, and honour her beautiful spirit.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Windsor Hospice would be appreciated by the family, in recognition of the loving care and compassion shown during her journey.
Though our hearts ache with her loss, we take comfort knowing her legacy lives on—in every recipe passed down, every kindness paid forward, and every memory lovingly held by those fortunate enough to have known her.
Gaye’s life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, and her love a gift we will carry forever.
