It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Louis Bendo. Loving and devoted husband for 66 years to Jean (née Aspinall). Cherished father of Christopher (2010) and wife Tina (née Sansotta), Mark, and Michael Bendo. Proud and adoring grandpa to Nicoletta, Matthew, Christina, Anthony, Tristan, and Zane. Great grandpa to Jackie. Lovingly remembered by Carol Bendo (née Rymar), Shannel Kubinec Blair, and Yolanda Wilson. Deeply missed by Bear, his faithful companion. Son of the late Sirena (née Del Villano) and Antonio Bendo and son-in-law to the late Maurice and Isabel Aspinall (née Squire). Treasured brother to Norma, Rosa, Doreen, Sandra, Vivian, Anna Maria, Peter, and spouses. Brother-in-law to William, Stan, Wally and Norma, Elizabeth and Robert, Dick, and Nan. Proud uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was an unpretentious man who will be deeply missed by many relatives and friends.
Lou was born in Timmins, Ontario. He was a devoted son. On May 31, 1959, Lou married the love of his life, Jean Aspinall. Lou was a gregarious and larger than life personality with a great sense of humour and an innate ability to tell jokes. He loved to work in his workshop where he brought his creative ideas to fruition. Lou enjoyed outdoor activities, especially fishing and golf. Spending time with his cherished loved ones and friends was his passion. Driven by his love and responsibility, he worked extremely hard to provide for and nurture his family. He was the founder and owner of Lou Bendo Realty and Insurance as well as the co-owner of the Windsor Arena. A WECSHOF inductee, Lou was a respected Canadian hockey player whose life in the game was defined by skill, leadership, and deliberate choice. He was the captain of the Windsor Bulldogs, a talented and dedicated team, winning the Allan Cup championship in 1963. In 1965, he founded the Bendo Blazers Hockey Club. Lou passed away leaving behind a legacy rooted in integrity, community, and a deep commitment to family, friends, and hockey, which he loved.
In honour of Lou’s request, cremation has taken place. Arrangements entrusted to SIMPLE CHOICE (Doguall) 519-254-2585. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
“Thank you for the wonderful life we shared. Love you always and forever.” Your Jeannie Baby.
