It is with deep sadness and everlasting sorrow that the Murray family announces that the bright light that was Lucia (Lucy) Alice Murray was suddenly extinguished in Windsor, Ontario, on June 6, 2026.

Born in Crysler, Ontario on November 29, 1937, Lucy is survived by her sons Blair Murray and Darren (Carolyn) Murray, her daughters Cheryl Murray (Bill Hopkins) and Michele Lavigne, grandsons Kyle Lavigne and Austin Lavigne, sisters Carmen Desautels, Reine Desautels and Francine Charette, brother Gilles Desautels, sisters-in-law Marie Murray and Anita Desautels, Jeannette Desautels and numerous nieces and nephews.

Lucy is predeceased by her parents Ernest Edouard Desautels and Jeanne Agnes (Sabourin) Desautels, son Kyle Anthony Murray, husband Bernard Dominic Murray, siblings Denise Burt, Paul Desautels, Maurice Desautels, Pauline Pipe and Marcel Desautels and her dear brother-in-law Charles Murray.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the Ouellette Campus medical and support staff for the extraordinary care and compassion that they extended to Mom and to us during her final hours.

Although Mom was barely 5 feet tall, her cheery spirit, bright smile, easy laugh and easygoing nature made her memorable to everyone she met, from family to store clerks, to pharmacy staff, to neighbors. Everyone would always say “Oh, I LOVE your mom!” You couldn’t help but love her. Lucy loved birds, music, food; the simple pleasures in life. In lieu of donations please share one of these simple life’s pleasures with someone you love and perhaps share a memory or two of Lucy Alice Murray.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Simple Choice Cremation Centre. According to Lucy’s wishes no formal service or memorial will be held. True to her nature to the end, Mom never wanted to be a bother or inconvenience to anyone…ever. Cremation has taken place and Lucy’s ashes will be interred at Heavenly Rest Cemetery with her beloved son Kyle and cherished husband Bernie at a private family service.
