In Loving Memory of Mackie
A Brave and Beautiful Soul (2000–2025)
It is with shattered hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Mackie on November 10, 2025, just one month after joyfully celebrating her 25th birthday—a milestone she fought so hard to reach. She was proud of herself, telling her mom, “I made it, Mom. I made it—I’m gonna keep trying.” And try she did, with a strength beyond measure.
Mackie was known for her kindness, her gentle heart, and her ability to be good to everyone she met. She carried the best character—sweet, caring, loving, and genuine. Her presence lit up every room, and her spirit left a mark on every person lucky enough to know her.
She was a lovely, vibrant, brilliant child who filled her family’s life with joy. She loved Pokémon, Bakugan, and her favourite movies, many of which she and her mom watched together, creating memories that will be cherished forever. She loved travelling together as a family, finding happiness in even the simplest moments.
Mackie discovered her passion for welding in her shop classes at Herman, where she dreamed of building and creating. But at just 16 years old, she was diagnosed with lupus—a disease that attacked her small body and forced her to battle challenges far beyond her years. She fought death four or five times, defying odds with unbelievable courage and determination. Despite everything she faced, she fought hard to live, to love, and to be happy.
On the morning of her passing, she was up at 7:30 a.m., moving around like any other day. There was no sign her brave heart was reaching its final moments. By 10:30 a.m., her mother faced the unthinkable—calling 911, screaming for help, and performing CPR on her first-born baby girl, desperately begging her to wake up. Despite every effort, Mackie did not open her eyes again. Her fragile body had endured more than most could imagine, and her strong heart simply could not fight any longer.
Mackenzie is survived by her devoted mother and her five younger sisters, who adored her deeply. She leaves behind a family whose lives are forever changed by her love, her laughter, and the courage she showed every day.
Though her time here was far too short, the love she gave, the dreams she held, and the strength she carried will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. May our sweet Mackie rest in eternal peace—free from pain, wrapped in love, and remembered forever.
