Margaret Sharon Irene (Gubby) Mersch

It is with profound sadness to announce the passing of Margaret Sharon Irene
Mersch, age 82 of Windsor, Ontario. She went home to be with the Lord on
Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at Windsor Regional Hospital ICU, after an extended
illness.

Predeceased by her spouse of 60 years and the "love of her life" Peter Mersch,
also know as "Gub". She was born on January 28, 1944, a daughter of the late
Harley Hyland and Irene Hyland. She was preceded in death by her loving
mother-in-law, Eva Mersch and father-in-law, John Mersch and her precious
son, Mark Mersch.

Margaret worked for many years at Kiddie Kobler, working with high end
children's footwear, followed by ABC Daycare and Dougall Avenue Daycare as
an ECE teacher. Later, she left her job at the school to tend to the care of her
loving grandchildren.

Her ability to make learning fun and "play" meaningful was inspiring. She was
always creating activities and using much of her pay cheque to buy supplies for
her work. She "loved" kids!!

Margaret set up and volunteered weekly at Versa Care Nursing Home, where
she would go and sing to the residents with her husband. She found joy in both
teaching Sunday school and singing in the choir.

In addition to her parents, Margaret was predeceased by her beloved brother,
Mark Hyland; her sisters, Nancy Vella and Pamela Lemire; her brothers-in-law,
Philip Mersch and John Mersch; and her sister-in-law, Jean Mersch.

Margaret is survived by her loving sons Peter Mersch (Louise), Kurt Mersch and
her only daughter Eva Beattie (Rodger). She is also survived by her brother,
Robert Hyland (Helen) and sister-in-law, Betty Mersch. Cherished grandmother
of Kathy Donaldson (Dereck), Lauren Beattie (Melissa), Brett Beattie (Mayra),
Jacqueline Mersch, Brendan Beattie (Christina), Adrian Arnone (Riley), Alex
Arnone and Max Mersch.

Adored by her great grandchildren Hailey McGregor, Adeline Donaldson and
the late Kylie McGregor (2022). Survived by many caring cousins, nieces and
nephews.

A very special thanks to Margaret's caregivers Helene, Camille and Roxanne,
along with the dynamite staff nurses and doctors and team at WRH ICU
(Christina, Meghan, Melissa, Rob, Lauren, Melanie and Dr. Jakob).

A celebration of Margaret's life will follow at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to
Windsor Regional Hospital Foundation ICU.
