It is with heavy hearts that the family of Maria (Hilde) Lutgardis Wellens announces her passing in March 6, 2026, at the age of 73.

She will be forever remembered by her family and friends who have become her family.

She will be greatly missed and cherished by all who have known her.

Maria (Hilde) enjoyed gardening, cooking, being creative, decorating, reading fantasy novels, being around animals, and socializing with friends. 

She accomplished many feats in her life and was proud of graduating from art school, running her own restaurant in Belgium, having Allan as her son, advocating for more bike paths to be created, and hosting dinner parties for her beloved friends.

Due to Maria’s (Hilde) love for animals and pets, please consider donating to Windsor/Essex County Humane Society in honor of her memory.

As per Maria’s (Hilde) wishes, she has been cremated and will be taken back to California with her son and his wiife.
