Maria "Marika" Gale

Passed away peacefully with family by her side at Hospice of Windsor, May 15th, 2026, at the age of 73. 

Beloved partner of the late Mathieu Gelissen for 39 years. 

Predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Maria Szilva. 

Loving sister of George and Joe (Mokus) Szilva.

Dearest mother of Devon Gale and stepkids Claudia (Jim) Studak, Marcus (Kadey) Gelissen and Mary-Lou (Dan) Gelissen.

Holly Gale was a steady presence in her life, and she cherished the memories they shared. Forever beloved Oma of Austen (Emma) and Miranda (Joshua) Gale, Lily and Emery Gelissen and Sam Studak: lifelong best friend and neighbour, Bob Hutchinson. 

Marika was a woman of great strength until the end.
Whether she was working on an art project or cooking a feast for those she loved, she brought both beauty and warmth to every moment.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, June 7th, 2026, from noon until 5pm at  Vito’s, (1731 Wyandotte St. E,)
