Obituary of Marie Chuckry

MARIE CHUCKRY (BAUER)

September 21, 1931 – April 17, 2026

On Friday, April 17th, 2026, surrounded by family, Marie Chuckry (nee Bauer) passed away

peacefully at the age of 94, at Woodlands of Sunset in Welland. Marie was predeceased

by her husband Joseph (1996), her parents William and Louisa Bauer, her sisters Lenora

Johnston, Rose Gardinier, Beatrice Kelley, Gladys Kodobocz, Eileen Bauer and her

brothers Raymond, Joseph, Leonard, Edward, Robert and Norman.

She will always be lovingly remembered by her five children: Mary Lou Cornwall (Phil),

Carol Printess (Keith), Cathy Battersby (Bill), John (Andi), and Joe (Kelly). She will be

dearly missed by her brother Howard, so many special nieces and nephews, 8 grandchildren,

9 great grandchildren and 10 great, great grandchildren.

Marie showered her family with wonderful memories during holiday gatherings and home

cooked meals. She shared her warmth and boisterous personality as a playground

supervisor at St, Andrew and St, Augustine elementary schools. She couldn’t wait for the

next Blue Jay game, the next family euchre tournament, the next bowling league

competition or the next game show on TV. Marie was a devout Catholic with a strong faith

and belief in God - A special thank you to Deacon Tom for his prayers and presence. The

family extends a heartfelt thank you and gratitude to the staff at Woodlands for their

care, compassion, and friendships.

At her request, cremation has taken place. Family and friends are invited to celebrate

Marie at her Mass and inurnment at St. Joseph’s Church in Snyder on Friday, May 8th at

11 am. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Woodlands of Sunset,

Welland or to the Alzheimer Society of Niagara Region
