In Loving Memory of Martin “Marty” Ryan
October 2, 1950 – November 24, 2025
A Life of Love and Laughter
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Martin “Marty” Ryan of Windsor, Ontario, formerly of Newfoundland. Surrounded by his loving family, Marty passed away peacefully on November 24, 2025, at the age of 75. He lived a life filled with love, laughter, and generosity, touching everyone who knew him.
Family Was His Greatest Joy
Marty leaves behind his beloved wife of 52 years, Paula (née Stacey). He was the loving father of Robert (Heather) and Sue (Tim), and the cherished “Pops” to Tim Jr. (Shelby), Casey, Sydney, and Landon. He was also a proud great-grandfather to Riley and Miles.
He is predeceased by his father, Patrick Ryan, and mother, Josephine Ryan (née McLaughlin). Marty will be deeply missed by his siblings Vince (Priscilla), Anna (Ron), and Maureen (Loran). He will also be fondly remembered by his sisters- and brothers-in-law: Cindy (Gary), Laura (Neil), Herb, Kevin, Mike (Liz), Anne Doyle Stacey, and Terry (deceased) and husband Stephan. His nieces and nephews held a special place in his heart: Lisa, Trevor, Tara, Dianna, Devin, Brian, Dave, Christine, Leah, Kevin, Michael, Killian, Adam, Nelson, Roxanne, David, Hillary, Ryan, and Samantha.
A Man Who Brought Joy Everywhere
Marty loved walking for hours through his Forest Glade neighborhood, sharing laughter and stories with everyone he met. Known for his infectious laugh, big smile, and unforgettable dad jokes, he had a gift for brightening any room. His playful spirit shone through in moments like singing into a pool cue as a microphone or dancing at family gatherings – moves as memorable as his humor. He enjoyed camping, kayaking, and connecting with people wherever he went. Marty was active in the Life After 50 Club and dedicated many years of service as a counselor with the Department of Veterans Affairs Canada. Though Newfoundland was always home in his heart, he moved to Ontario to give his children greater opportunities and loved visiting relatives in Ireland.
Forever Remembered
Marty’s kindness, warmth, and generous spirit touched everyone who knew him. He will be remembered for his unwavering quest to bring joy to others and for the countless smiles he inspired. He will be deeply missed by all.
To honor Marty’s love of music, we invite you to listen to one of his favorite songs: “End of the Line” by the Traveling Wilburys (1988).
Let’s Celebrate Marty
In keeping with Marty’s wishes, cremation will be private, with a family celebration of life to follow at a later date.
To honor his memory, do something joyful today: take a long walk, strike up a conversation with someone new, read a good book, laugh out loud, and dance until you sweat through your shirt. Marty believed life was meant to be lived that way.
Our family is deeply grateful for the love and support shown during his final years and days. Your kindness and compassion will forever be remembered.
Instead of flowers, please consider making a donation to your local homeless shelter or mission in Marty’s memory – a tribute that truly reflects his generous heart.
