Merle Hunter
Merle Lorraine Hunter (nee Gore) was born and raised in Preston, Lancashire, England. She was the first in her family to receive a secondary school education and graduated from nursing college. In 1959, she married Jim Liddle, and in 1960 son John Liddle was born. The three emigrated to Toronto in 1963, where Jim worked at de Haviland as a millwright, and Merle worked in local nursing homes. In 1966, son Robert was born and in 1967, the family moved to Prince Rupert, BC. Following Jim Liddle's workplace death in 1968, the three moved back to Rexdale, where Merle met and later married Roger Vandewalle. Daughter Laura was born in 1970, and the family moved to Windsor in 1976, where Merle continued her nursing career at Central Park Lodge and Beacon Hill Lodge. Merle and Roger later divorced. Merle met and married the love of her life, Tommy Hunter, in 1994. The two enjoyed a marvellous, loving marriage till Tommy's passing in 2017.
Merle enjoyed a smoke, a drink, a good laugh, and a game of bingo. Friends and family will all remember Merle as a high-spirited, fun-loving, and caring person.
Merle is survived by son John Liddle, his loving wife Renee Puskas, and granddaughters Hannah Liddle and Grace Liddle; son Robert Liddle; daughter Laura Moroz, her loving husband Steve Moroz, and granddaughter Sarah Moroz. A cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
