It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Joseph Heffernan on June 7, 2026, at the age of 83. Michael was predeceased by his beloved parents, Kathleen and Donald (Micky) Heffernan, as well as his cherished wife, Carol Pennylegion (née McDermott). He was a loving and devoted father to Debbie Kay (Louis Cvetanovski), Laura Kay (Greg Masse), and Daniel Heffernan (Mary Lou Gellisen). Michael was a proud and cherished grandfather to Rebecca Lefebvre (Jordan), Eric Cvetanovski (Miranda), and Noah Cvetanovski (Victoria). His extended family included his late brother, Robert (Bob) Heffernan (Lynda, Robin, Brian, Craig) his loving sister Maureen Tarbat (Gord), which he held close throughout his life.
He will be deeply missed by his many friends, especially those from his 2 seniors’ clubs he so enjoyed. Michael was also a long devoted fan of the Toronto Blue Jays and rarely missed a chance to cheer or yell at his team.
A man known for his strong work ethic, reliability, generosity, and kindness. Michael dedicated much of his life to helping others. He was an award-winning volunteer who contributed countless hours to numerous Windsor-area charities including Hospice, the Canadian Cancer Society, Assisted Living of SW Ontario (ALSO), the Brain Injury Association (BWIA) and Julien’s House. Mike was an alumnus of St. Clair College in Windsor and the Business School at Western University in London, Ontario. Michael carried his passion for learning and service into every aspect of his life. He was admired not only for his commitment to his community, but for his warmth, creativity , and loving demeanour.
Michael will be missed by many whose lives he touched along the way.
