Norman Douglas Patterson
Obituary Overview
Norman “Doug” Patterson
It is with deep love that we announce the passing of Coach Norm “Doug” Patterson, a devoted husband, proud father, beloved grandfather, and respected coach.
Doug dedicated over 40 years of his life to the sport of boxing — not for recognition or praise, but purely for the love of it. He gave his time, energy and heart to countless people, shaping not only skilled fighters but strong individuals.
His impact reached far beyond the ring and will be felt for generations.
He was known for his humor, his understanding nature, and his genuine care for others. Doug had a way of making people feel welcome, supported and valued.
Doug also spent 31 years working at H.J. Heinz, where he made many good friends and left a lasting impression on those he worked with.
As a father, he created memories that will last a lifetime — especially the cherished times spent on Pelee Island with his children and their friends, filled with laughter and connection.
Those moments reflected who he was: a man who brought people together and gave freely of himself. Above all, Doug deeply loved his family. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Jacky; his daughter Angie DiMenna (Mauro Dalla Bona); his son Patrick Patterson (Lisa); and his cherished granddaughter Rhianyn, who meant so much to him. He is also survived by his brothers Mike Patterson ( Joanne) and Lawrence Rory Patterson, brother-in-law John Slater (Carol), and many nieces and nephews.
Doug is now reunited with his beloved parents, Barbara and Jack, his sister Maureen, and his childhood dog Ralphy. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Doug’s life will be held on Sunday, May 31, 2026 at the Kingsville Legion (145 Division Street South) from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., where family and friends are invited to gather, share memories and honour his life.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Windsor-Essex Hospice would be appreciated.
He will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and always carried in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know and love him. The lessons he taught, the lives he touched, and the love he gave will never be forgotten.
