With broken hearts, we announce that Paul “Butch” Prieur passed away unexpectedly yet peacefully at home on Sunday, February 22, 2026.
Butch was a proud retiree of the General Motors Windsor Transmission Plant, where he dedicated over 30 years of hard work before enjoying a well-earned retirement. In his retirement years, he found his greatest joy in spending quality time with his family at gatherings, fishing, playing cards and pool, and continuing to work around the home and property he loved. There was little that Butch couldn’t fix — a testament to his skill, patience, and determination.
A deeply respected and kind-hearted man, Butch was always ready to lend a helping hand. He was generous with his time, steadfast in his support, and loyal to those in his circle. His quiet strength, warm presence, and willingness to help anyone in need will be remembered by all who knew him.
Butch shared over 60 beautiful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Gail. Together they built a life rooted in love and family, spending their entire lives on Broderick Road in LaSalle, where they created countless memories.
He was a devoted father to Mike (Mona and Adam) and Jason (Christine). A proud and loving Papa, he cherished Carter, Addison, Jack, and Jaxon, who brought immense joy to his life.
Butch was a dear brother to Danny and Linda Verbeem (Ron, 2013) and brother-in-law to Gary Nolye (2025). He was a loving uncle to Heather Pittman (2024) and Chuck Noyle (Tammy and Max), and a supportive “Uncle Butch” to Jordan, Sarah, and Alexis.
Butch also leaves behind many cherished friends and neighbours with whom he shared laughter, stories, and friendship over the years. He is now reunited with his parents, Ivan and Alice Prieur.
Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort knowing his legacy of kindness, dedication, and love will live on through his family and all who were fortunate enough to know him.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
The family will not be holding a formal funeral service but will honor and celebrate his life together at a later time.
