Pierrette Alexandrina Marie Hebert
Obituary Overview
In Loving Memory
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Pierrette. She died on October 24, 2025, after a lengthy fight with cancer at Ottawa General Hospital.
Towards the end Pierrette worked hard to be present and enjoy her two kids, Jillian and Kyle, his wife Leea and their kids, Clementine and Charlie. They were the centre of her universe. Jillian and Kyle were in constant contact as there was nearly always a scheme in play. As adults, over the years they would travel together – Cuba, Spain – and they would always come back with extraordinary stories (hijinks) of their time away. Her brother, Gilles was also important to her, and they too travelled together and visited often (more Hijinks).
Pierrette was the 4th of six kids born to Lilianne (Thuot) and Maurice [Butch} Hébert. She was predeceased by 4 of her siblings: Denis, Dolorès, Jean, and René. Pierrette was born on January 2nd – a fact she resented greatly because as she put it, “everybody is too burnt out by then to celebrate”.
Pet, as she was called by many, had uncanny charisma. She may have inherited this from her parents who, individually, had little trouble holding court. Regardless of the circumstance she would engage total strangers, servers, clerks at convenience stores, celebrities she’d run into by chance, and invariably she would manage to strike up the most unlikely conversations. She was super smart, very witty, a touch sardonic, and extremely generous.
Pierrette’’s accomplishments are many. As a single parent, of a young child, she graduated with a B.A. Years later, in her 40’s she went back to university (Manitoba) where she earned a law degree. Not long after the whole family relocated to Ottawa where she returned to the federal civil service. She retired a few years later but not before becoming a senior civil servant at the Department of Canadian Heritage.
Besides her family, there are many who will miss her. Pierrette had a lot of friends. She also had numerous nieces and nephews. All would agree - she was unusual in the best possible ways.
The family would like to thank her doctors and the staff at Ottawa General Hospital for their wonderful care.
