Obituary Overview
REV. Sandra Ann Morris
MORRIS, REV. Sandra Ann “Sam”
Passed away in Windsor, Ontario, on April 21, 2026, at the age of 66.
Born in Toronto, Ontario, on February 16, 1960, Sam lived a rich and deeply meaningful life marked by compassion, creativity, intellect, and service to others. Over the years, she made her home in Toronto, Charlottesville and New Orleans, as well as Uxbridge, Kemble, and Essex, Ontario. Wherever she lived, she brought her full self: thoughtful, funny, curious, creative, deeply caring, and entirely unforgettable.
Predeceased by her beloved parents, Ralph Frederick Morris and Gwendolyn Morris, her adored brother, Brian George Morris, and stepbrother Jeffrey George Morris. She leaves behind her nephew, Corey Michael Morris (Brittany) of Cleveland, Ohio, a multitude of dear friends, especially Sharron Campeau, whom Sam lovingly called her “Person,” and her cherished pets, Nelson and Carl.
An honours graduate of the Toronto School of Theology, Sam earned her Master of Divinity from the University of Toronto and was ordained on August 20, 2016, by the Universal Fellowship of Metropolitan Community Churches. She was a writer, author, artist, and pastor, and she brought all of herself to each of these pursuits.
Her leadership of Mental Health ministries at the Metropolitan Community Church of Toronto, was both her passion and her calling. Her presence, compassion, empathy, and courage in that work touched countless lives and, in very real ways, helped save them. Fueled by unquenchable curiosity, a generous spirit, and a vivid imagination, Sam lived boldly, openly, and authentically.
After a lengthy mental health and physical struggle, Sam chose to take her own life. She was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.
In accordance with Sam’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life service will take place on Saturday June 6, 2026, at 1:00pm, at the Metropolitan Community Church of Toronto (MCCT), located at 115 Simpson Avenue, Toronto.
