Obituary Overview
Richard Anson O'Neil
It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of a devoted father, grandfather, and friend, who was born on October 12, 1946, and passed away on February 28, 2026. Predeceased by his loving wife Cheryl (1985).
He will be lovingly remembered by his sons, Ryan O’Neil and Shawn O’Neil, and by his daughter‑in‑law Erika O’Neil. He was a proud and devoted grandfather—“Papa”—to Nathaniel, Christian, and Faith, who brought him immense joy.
He will also be deeply missed by many dear friends, including Lilia Batalla, Bonnie Mape, Addison Johnson, Olivia Johnson, Alisha Johnson, and Ron and Bel Maclinnis.
He will be missed by extended family and countless friends—he had many along the way whose lives were touched by his kindness.
Known for his generosity of spirit, he believed deeply in kindness and in helping others. He loved the Detroit Lions and remained determined that they would win one day—a hope he carried with unwavering loyalty.
He will be remembered for his warmth, his steadfast devotion to those he loved, and the lasting impact he made on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
