Richard Edward Hartley born Aug 6,1941 -Jan.23 2026
Richard passed away at Windsor Regional Hospital Ouellette Campus. He is predeceased by his loving wife Joan (Joni) Elaine (Gosnell). Hartley Jan.9 2026, Just a few days short of their 62nd anniversary. His parents’ Henry & Agnes Hartley, his In-laws Keith & Mary Gosnell, his late brother-in-law Al Gosnell. He leaves his dear son Glen Patrick Hartley and wife Michelle Mainwaring, his grandchild Valkyrie (his pride & joy), Sister Ethel Jean Grove (Elmer), brother-in-law Ken & Sue Gosnell, and sister-in-law Loretta Gosnell and his special daughter Lynda Mainwaring. Richard was a graduate of Ridgetown Agriculture School. As a child Richard spent hours working the farm with his dad. He had a long career with Chrysler. He had a love for the land nature and fishing. Joan & Rich liked to follow Skating competition, hockey & football. They loved to spend time at the cottage on the Pickerel River. Richard was so proud to have his picture taken with Jean Chretien and received an autographed copy of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms when he served with Susan Whelan and Bruce Crozier. He was a member of St. Marks by the Lake Church and he loved to pray for people. He was a man of faith and integrity. A celebration of life will be planned at St. Marks by The Lake for both Joan and Richard on February 28th, 2026 at 2pm. The family so appreciated the dedicated care Richard received at Windsor Regional Ouellette campus and Erie Shores Health Care. Also, for many who have supported Richard & Joan and our family with prayers and kind words.
