It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Robert at the age of 75 at Windsor Regional Hospital-Ouellette campus

Beloved son of Shee Jean (2012) and Louie Jean (1956)

Dear and cherished brother of Kim Gene (Helga) and Mary Marchand (Russ) and forever in our hearts

Special uncle to Kriston Gene (Eva Milinkovic), Andrew Gene (Wendy Meyen) and Adrien Marchand. Also survived by great-nephews, Max Milinkovic-Gene, Alex Milinkovic-Gene and Sonny Gene

Robert’s sister-in-law Helga held an extra special place in his heart.
His affection for her was quite evident as he always had such a big grin and smile for her when she entered the room which was not always the case for his siblings. It was heartwarming to see Robert and Helga’s shared affection for each other.

To our wonderful cousin Sherri Triembacher and her husband Mark, we express our deepest gratitude for your kindness and affection shown to Robert. The clothes you bought him gave him a sense of style and physical comfort. The favourite salted plums and delicious Chinese food you provided were such treats for Robert and would have satisfied any cravings he had. Finally, your generosity in providing Robert with a TV streaming box was so very thoughtful as Robert certainly enjoyed watching the old western cowboy movies. You surely made his life more enjoyable during his stay at Berkshire.

Robert was not a conventional person. He was extraordinary in his own way. Truly a unique and kind soul who had the emotional strength and resolve to overcome the various challenges he encountered throughout his life.
He will be truly missed and remembered fondly for his antics albeit at times with dismay that he lived life on his own terms.
He had remarkable recall and a penchant for math and numbers to which his nephew Adrien, at a young age excitedly exclaimed, “uncle Bob, uncle Bob, you’re a genius!!” It was evident that Uncle Bob was proudly amused by this statement.

To friends and acquaintances, he was a funny and likeable guy who was always generous with his time helping others.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to all the endearing staff at Berkshire Care Centre for their kindness and attention shown to Robert and for always making his family feel welcome during their
visitations. It was reassuring to know that Robert was in a safe and comfortable environment.

Also, special thanks and deep appreciation to the nursing and medical staff at Windsor Regional Hospital-Ouellette campus CCU for their vigilant and compassionate care of Robert and for their condolences to our family.

Cremation has been entrusted to Simple Choice Cremation with special thanks to Tricia for her thoughtfulness. Robert will be interred at Windsor Memorial Gardens.
