Ronald Laurian Poirier
Obituary Overview
In Loving Memory
It is with deep sadness that we share the sudden passing of Ronald (Ron) Laurian Poirier on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at the age of 71. Ron left us far too soon following a tragic car accident, though his loyal companion, Beau, miraculously survived.
Ron will be deeply missed by his devoted wife of more than 20 years, Linda Pharoah, and lovingly remembered by his children: Ronald Jr., Rachelle (Pierre), Michelle, Alicia (Justin), and Christina. He is predeceased by his son Christopher, granddaughter Amélie and by his previous wife, Ginette. Ron’s memory lives on through his cherished grandchildren — Cameron (Camille), Curtis, Devon, Pierre, Joliane, Emma, Chloé, Sébastien, and Charlotte — each of whom brought him immense pride and joy.
As the eldest of eight, Ron is survived by his siblings Rollande (Nick), Monique (John), John (Patty), and Robert (Kelly). He is predeceased by his sisters Jacqueline (Donald) and Thérèse (Jeff), his brother Daniel (Carol), and his parents, Ronald and Fernande Poirier.
Ron devoted much of his life to his community — coaching hockey, founding a nonprofit karate school, and leading a men’s hockey league (Laroche Park) for more than 30 years. Ron worked for Statistics Canada for 38 years and had been enjoying retirement since 2010. He approached every part of life with generosity, humour, and an unwavering capacity for love.
Family and friends are invited to gather in celebration of Ron’s life on Saturday, February 28, 2026, visitation at 1 p.m. and funeral at 2 p.m. at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 1817 Richardson Side Rd, Kanata.
In honour of Ron’s love for sports, guests are warmly encouraged to wear a sports jersey instead of formal attire especially hockey or the Blue Jays. Donations in his memory may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, the Canadian Cancer Society, or a charity of your choice.
