Mildred Ruth Muxworthy

Muxworthy, (Mildred) Ruth passed away peacefully on May 15th at the age of 83 at Banwell Nursing Home. She is predeceased by her parents John McConnell Muxworthy and Mildred Lucy Muxworthy. She was a sister to Paul and Lydia (2023) Muxworthy of Texas and aunt to Lora(Bob) Quickstad of Texas and Paul Jr (Lisa) Muxworthy of Wisconsin. Ruth absolutely adored being an Aunt. When Lora and Bob welcomed four boys- Collin, Nathan, Blake, and Gavin- Ruth was overjoyed and was always interested in their lives and the sports they were involved in. She was always eager to tell her friends about the boys’ newest adventures!

Ruth was adopted as an infant by John and Mildred, completing their family and making her the cherished younger sister to Paul. They grew up together on a farm in Essex and they learned how to ride horses. She loved country living and shared many fond memories of that time.

While Ruth enjoyed a wonderfully loving childhood, she always carried a quiet, deep desire to find her biological roots. In 1990, that wish came true. Ruth found her biological family and was warmly embraced into the Cornett family, a beautiful reunion that brought immense closure and joy to her life. She was blessed with 3 sisters and a brother, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. She embraced her Irish heritage.

Ruth lived a full life with abundant laughter, a deep love for her family and friends, and a boundless, childlike spirit that warmed everyone around her. She was the life of the party and always had a story or joke to share. She was also a person of strong faith who saw the good in everyone she met.

Ruth was a woman of many talents and passions. Professionally, she dedicated herself to helping others- first as a Registered Nursing Assistant at Windsor Western, where she provided excellent, compassionate care to her patients and their families. She later shifted gears to work as a driving instructor for CAA, preparing many students to be safe drivers on our roads. She received many notes and letters from her students long after she taught them.

Creatively, Ruth was a gifted soul who loved working with her hands, finding great joy in woodworking and making and restoring furniture. She loved calligraphy, making many crafty signs and absolutely loved giving her little wooden angels a personality of their own.

Ruth was a long-time friend of Jean Tesolin and special cousin to Jane Cornett and Nelly Schuurman. She was blessed to have many friends throughout the years. We are especially thankful for Pam, Christie, Anne Marie, Diane, Jean and Eric who continued to visit her regularly and brought joy (and often a ‘Timmie’s’) to her at Banwell Gardens nursing home.

We are so thankful for the excellent care, patience and kindness that the entire staff at Banwell Gardens provided her. They treated her like family and made her feel at home, despite her recent struggles and ‘spicyness’. She could not have had better caregivers with whom she was so blessed. 

Arrangements entrusted to Simple Choice Cremation- Wyandotte (519-254-2585).

A celebration of Ruth’s life will take place on Sat. June 13th at St. Marks by-the-Lake church, 150 St. Marks Rd, Tecumseh. Visitation at the church from 1-2pm, with a service at 2pm. Rev. Ryan Boivin officiating. Internment will occur at a later date. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you intentionally perform acts of kindness to those you meet. Perhaps buy a cup of coffee for someone in Ruth’s honour- Ruth would be so pleased!
